Misnomers
Citrine is often incorrectly and ignorantly sold as topaz. Although topaz and citrine can often be similar colours, they are both completely distinct gemstones. Often the owners and wearers of citrines ring call them topaz, presumably along the lines of wishful thinking. Many topaz are a richer colour than citrine, containing more orange colouration.
